A new novelist has joined! - Digital Novelist notes - 2026-02-21

Hey there,

Please welcome Robert Riddle to the Digital Novelist newsletter!

I met Robert last year at a local book festival and he immediately impressed me. Here were all these authors with their banners, displays, stacks of published books; then there he was— QR code with his novel online and a few business cards.

To me he was the most memorable person I met that day.

The next week, I read part of his novel Delphine on my YouTube community author day.

And just, wow! The level of immersion, mixed media (music, disparate documents, various perspectives), was extremely well done.

It was a murder mystery set in the near future with many horror elements. Perfect for a Halloween reading.

Robert's now working on Parte III of the work. I look forward to reading more of him.

Session 1: Writing (Micro-fiction)

Since I've entered the editing phase of my novel Cereus & Limnic: Escape From Okinawa Type-B I want to keep my writing skills well-oiled. That's why I've decided to focus on shorter works while I edit.

Today I did some research into awards I could submit to and I found this Fish Flash Fiction Competition over in Ireland. Deadline is 2/28/26.

You joinin'?
