On a recent trip back to Texas, I was watching one of LegendFiction's YouTube videos when the email introducing us landed in my inbox.
Same name, same face, same moment. That kind of timing always makes me pause.
Most people call it coincidence. I’ve learned to call it a signal.
The following week, we jumped on a call. Within minutes, it was clear we spoke the same creative language— craft first, AI second.
When the channel creator Dominic D'Souza called writing with AI-assistance vibe writing, I paused. Even though I'd never heard of the term, I immediately thought of how I use AI to augment my writing process.
We both noticed the potential in the technology. United in our shared belief of being AI-forward in a time when writing (especially fiction) with LLMs is considered taboo.
During that first meeting, he also invited me to the LegendHaven conference. I said I would attend.
That weekend turned out to be one of the smoothest online events I’ve attended — a mix of friendliness, imagination, and genuine warmth. I met several U.S. military veteran writers, each bringing their own stories and sense of discipline and sarcasm to writing. I had no idea there were so many others.
It felt less like a conference and more like an active creative ecosystem.
Synchronicity became community.
When you're lost in life, directions don't always come when you need them. But this time I got a gentle ping.
It's a name, a message, a strange overlap of timing. When the flare goes up, you can ignore it, or you can answer. And when you do, doors open you didn’t even know were there.
