Three weeks until launch, but...

Three weeks until launch, but...

The day has come.

It's that point in every project you hate - major project due date is looming, but there's still a ton of work to do and no time to do it.

This time it's my supernatural horror novel "Gates of Okinawa."

When I set the launch date for Halloween 6 months ago, I figured I'd finish with time to spare.

Well, Halloween has come and gone, but I'm nowhere close to done.

I've already extended it on Amazon KDP. However, they only allow one deadline shift per book or they blackball you from pre-sales for a year and throttle your account (so I've heard).

What does this mean?

It means starting today, I've got three weeks to rewrite and edit 32 chapters, format the novel, final edit, and publish it.

This also includes promoting the launch in between chapters.

Think I can do it? Or will I be banned from Amazon, never to clout chase on their platform again?

You'll find out soon.

How you can help

This novel has consumed the majority of my bandwidth for the past six and half months. Through moves and medical emergencies its been there, but so have you (maybe, depending on when we met.)

If you want to support this effort (and independent, original stories) consider supporting the project.

There are many ways to do so. You can:

  • Read the first half of the novel on Wattpad (be sure to leave a vote or a comment if you like it!)
  • Get your name in the final book by being a community editor or beta reader
    • You don't have to read the whole thing. But even finding tiny mistakes in one chapter saves me time.
    • For your effort, you receive a special place in the final print of the novel till the end of time. Believe that!
    • To help just go to Wattpad, read, and leave comments or feedback. I'll be forever grateful!
  • Pre-order the book on Amazon (helps others find the story, and pushes it up Amazon's ranking system - how cool would it be if it rose to number one!? Very.)
  • Immerse yourself in the making of this book with the deluxe package (includes over 30 hours of behind the scenes content)
  • Tell a horror fan about the book

Times like these, that hook and chorus from the hypest song from Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse "What's Up Danger" comes to mind:

What's up, danger?
Don't be a stranger
'Cause I like high chances that I might lose
I like it all on the edge just like you
I like tall buildings so I can leap off of 'em
I go hard wit' it no matter how dark it is
I'm insane but on my toes
I could keep the world balanced on my nose
I had a slumber party wit' all my foes
Now I wear them like a badge of honor on my clothes
If I'm crazy, I'm on my own
If I'm waitin', it's on my throne
If I sound lazy, just ignore my tone
'Cause I'm always gonna answer when you call my phone
Like what's up, danger?
Like what's up, danger?
Don-don't be a stranger
What's up, danger?

Hey danger, here I am.
