AI as a Writing Partner: My Experience So Far – 執筆パートナーとしてのAI： これまでの経験
With my wife away, I was able to get a lot of writing done for my latest short story. It’s called “Sync-Whole” and takes place shortly after Cereus & Limnic ends.
Yesterday I wrote 5K+ words for the story with the help of Claude AI. But I’m not using it the way I thought I would.
I’ve gone back to writing what I call “briefs” for it. I basically summarize what I want to happen in each scene, feed it my writing rules, then ask the AI to write the next few sentences. This allows me to test it to see if the output is anything close to what I’m looking for.
How are the results?
Usually it’s about 50-50. Sometimes the AI is pretty close to what I want (which still requires me to do major edits) or it completely misses. In those moments, I just start writing, then I try it again once I reach a new part of the story.
The AI excels at description. These sections of fiction are some of my least favorite to write. I’m best at writing dialogue. This works out because AI still generally writes it wooden and unnatural. (It doesn’t understand how real people speak to each other.)
Another good use for it is integrating certain styles in the narrative.
For example, I wanted to introduce more technical explanations in my stories. My recent watch of “Three Body” inspired me! But research on advanced scientific topics I don’t know about can take a long time. This is where AI comes in.
A simple command to integrate scientific principles in theories (in a way that makes sense – not just randomly – takes care of writing a section that could have taken hours manually.
It’s incredible to breakdown the writing process like this, sharing the load with AI. It allows me to view the writing process for what it is – a collection of skills that implemented together form a complete narrative.
Competent use of AI can make the process more efficient, fun, and a hell of a lot faster.

妻が不在の間に、最新の短編小説をたくさん書くことができました。「Sync-Whole」というタイトルで、「Cereus & Limnic」が終わった直後が舞台です。
昨日は、Claude AIの助けを借りて5,000字以上書きました。でも、思っていたような使い方はしていません。
「ブリーフ」と呼ばれるものを書くことに戻りました。 基本的に、各シーンで起こってほしいことを要約し、私の執筆ルールを与えて、AIに次の数文を書くように依頼します。そうすることで、出力された文章が私の求めているものに近いかどうかをテストできるんです。
結果はどうでしたか？
だいたい半々ですね。AIが私の求めるものにかなり近いこともあれば（それでも大幅な編集が必要ですが）、完全に外れることもあります。そういうときは、ただ書き始めて、ストーリーの新しい部分に到達したら、また試します。
AIは描写が得意です。 このような部分は、私が最も苦手とする小説の一部です。私は台詞を書くのが一番得意です。AIはまだ一般的に堅苦しく不自然な台詞を書くので、これはうまくいきます。(現実の人間がどのように会話しているのか理解できないのです）。
もう一つの良い使い方は、物語に特定のスタイルを取り入れることです。
例えば、私は物語にもっと技術的な説明を取り入れたいと思いました。最近観た『三体』に触発されました！でも、私の知らない高度な科学的トピックの研究には時間がかかります。そこでAIの出番です。
科学的な原理を理論に組み入れるという簡単なコマンドを実行するだけで、手作業では何時間もかかってしまうような部分を（適当にではなく、理にかなった方法で）書いてくれるのです。
このように執筆プロセスを分解し、AIと分担することは信じられないほど革新的です。AIと分担することで、ライティング・プロセスをありのままに見ることができます。
AIを上手に使うことで、そのプロセスをより効率的に、楽しく、そしてより速くすることができるのです。
