What Does it Take to Be a Special Agent? – Military Memory Book
What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid, I had a few ideas for my future career. Historian, basketball player, then there was my brief robotics engineer phase. None of these lasted.
Sometime around high school, I got interested in law enforcement. I like the idea of helping people with a large skillset. Being skilled at fighting, with weapons, and with talking to people sounded like a perfect fit for me.
This became my secret backup plan if the military didn’t work out.
It was around that time that I started watching “24”. That got me even more interested in fighting crime, but at a higher level.
Jack Bauer was a badass. He was a family man but could diffuse bombs. He could hot wire cars yet was still a capable leader. The soldier-general.
Hayden: Brave, Special Agent Training
Becoming an Agent
When I entered the OSI Academy, in many ways my adolescent dreams had come true. I felt like I was going to be Black James Bond. But I had to make it through training first.
It was the most intense and elite training course I attended during my time on active duty. I had my eyes burned and fingers jammed. I was shot, scorched, stabbed, poked, slammed, punched, and poisoned, yet through it all I survived to join one of the most professional investigative organizations in the world.
I had received the best law enforcement training in the country and was prepared for the grueling nature of this job.
